The Marineland Penguin 200 BIO-Wheel Power Filter provides superior multi-stage filtration for aquariums up to 50 gallons. Equally effective in freshwater and marine settings, this compact clarifier dispenses 200 gph of filtering performance while consuming a very reasonable and energy-efficient 8 watts.
3 Stages of Filtration
Stage 1 (Mechanical)
- The included Rite-Size C filter cartridge features a thick poly-fiber pad that captures and removes free-floating debris from your aquarium water. Its slotted design prevents by-pass, and ensures even distribution of the enclosed activated carbon to maximize contact time and performance. The poly-fiber material also provides supplemental biological filtration. An extra media slot is included, enabling you to purchase and add a second Rite-Size C cartridge or other filter media of your choice!
Stage 2 (Chemical)
- Fast-acting Black Diamond Premium Activated Carbon eliminates odors, discoloration, and organic impurities in your aquarium. The only thing left behind is sparkling, crystal clear water! As carbon de-activates with use, the filter cartridge should be replaced every 2 - 4 weeks to maintain optimal filtration performance.
Stage 3 (Biological)
- The Penguin 200 is equipped with Marineland's patented BIO-Wheel to deliver outstanding wet/dry bio-filtration. Designed for maximum surface area, it encourages the rapid growth of beneficial nitrifying bacteria which effectively neutralize toxic ammonia and nitrite. The BIO-Wheel will never clog or require replacement unless accidentally damaged.
The Penguin 200 is designed to offer user-friendly setup and maintenance. It features a 2-piece vented lid that provides convenient access to the filter cartridge and BIO-Wheel, while simultaneously helping to reduce operational noise. It also includes an adjustable mid-level intake designed to improve aquarium water circulation.
