earliest "PACKARD DEALERSHIP" signs that still exist
...It was made way before neon signs existed !
Here is a
Genuine and Original "PACKARD" Car Glass Advertising Sign
that was displayed originally in a PACKARD Dealership Showroom....it was never available for the public to buy.
I bought this sign at an Old Estate Sale - just as you see it ....and I guarantee it to be an old and original PACKARD Glass sign.
This very heavy glass sign is about 5/16" thick around the glass mirror beveled edges.
The word "PACKARD" is very ornate, and it is molded or engraved very deep into the backside of the glass ....and it is Silver Gilded like a mirror.
This type of "engraved glass" signs were first made in the 1860's and before 1920.
It is reverse painted in black, and with no paint flaking.
It measures about 23" wide x 16" high....weighs about 7 lbs.
This sign is complete with a hanging chain on the back.
