Description
This casserole bowl is a product of the Watt Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio.In 1949, the Watt Pottery Company began production of the first hand-decorated ware.
The original patterns were produced for only a few years until the Apple pattern was introduced in 1952.
This original pattern piece is from the ovenware and kitchenware line that the company named, “Rio Rose”.
Rio Rose was one of Watt’s longest lasting Classic Patterns and was in production from 1949 through 1953.
The bowl measures approximately 7 ½” in diameter and 2 ¾” in height.
The hand-decorated under glaze pattern features a single red rose, double green leaves and two brown lines.
It is marked on the base with the incised words, “Oven Ware – Watt Ware – U.S.A.”.
This ceramic casserole is missing the lid and is in fair condition with overall crazing, cracks, discolorations and a few manufacturing flaws.
Despite these flaws this vintage Watt Pottery casserole bowl is an attractive display piece.
